Still no luck for TFC even with the Return of Jack( for 1 game only )

Trinity put together one of their best displays of the season in this top v. bottom div 3 clash at WCL, with veteran Keith Harper making his first start of the season, along with Jack Haughey, home on holiday from his world travels. Having played each other only two weeks earlier both teams knew what to expect from each other. This was evident early on as both teams cancelled each other out. A mistake was always going to be key and Trinity made the first allowing a ' Lodge forward a run through to score on the quarter hour mark. Trinity though then produced a series of chances. Good work from Danny Barnes put Jack Haughey through but his effort was just wide. Barnes himself was next to pull his shot just wide. The 'Lodge replied in similar fashion before Barnes fed both Jason Harper and Sam Clayton who also both shot wide. The second half followed a similar pattern until the hour mark when Trinity gained a deserved equaliser with Jason Harpers 1st of the season. Trinitys joy was short lived as HLRes regained the lead 3 mins later with a shot in off the far post. Just 4mins later and it was 2-2, as a long ball beat the 'Lodge defense and Barnes was through to chip home. Howdens Lodge res retook the lead with less than 15mins left when 'keeper Grant Henderson was judged to have fouled a 'Lodge forward. A Penalty was awarded and the Howdens Forward completed his Hat-Trick...2-3. As Trinity pushed forward to look for an equaliser, Howdens broke away and gained a corner. This was headed home, but with a minute left, Trinity had hope as Barnes again broke clear to score his second and make the final score 4-3. So the game ended with another Trinity defeat, but a performance to give them hope for the future, although the next game is against Beacon !!

Trinity suffer forth straight league defeat

Trinitys improving performances still failed to provide their 2nd win of the season, as a determined Howdens Lodge Reserves team scored twice in the last ten mins to take all 3 points in this division 3 game, played at the Co-op. With Trinitys management team down to just Keith Harper due to holidays and weekend breaks, Trinity started brightly and opened the scoring when Danny Barnes netted his first goal of the season. Howdens Lodge Reserves gained an equaliser from the penalty spot after 'keeper Grant Henderson brought down a forward in the box. With the game looking set for a draw, ending 3 consecutive Trinity League defeats, Howdens Lodge Reserves poped up with two killer goals in the last 10 to continue their impressive start to the season and condemn Trinity to their 4th straight league defeat.

Trinity defeated by Castle

An unusual afternoon home game for Trinity saw no change in their early season fortunes., against one of the divisions top teams they put together a sprited performance but gained no reward. The game was 14mins old when Lincoln Castle opened the scoring. A long cross not being cut out presented the scoring oportunity. 4 mins later and the trinity defence was all over the place. An attempted clearence by Graham Dixon hit his own post before the ball hit Chris Short, it was then only half cleared. The ball was flying all over the trinity 6 yard box at this point and after numerous attempts to clear ,the ball was thumped home. 2 mins later it was 3-0 when a Lincoln Castle forward weaved his way through the defence. Trinity did muster some efforts before the break, with Danny Barnes Jason Harper and Scott Batchelor all going close. The game was effectively over after 2 mins of the second half as a perfect chip over Grant henderson made it 4-0. The final goal coming in the last couple of mins as Trinity were looking for a consolation goal leaving themselves short in defence.

Trinity 1 - 4 Fender Talbot

On a typical autumnal morning at the Co-op, Trinity produced another improving display, but again got no reward other than their first goal in three games. An impressive Fender Talbot started the game brightly and had the Trinity defence stretched early on. This early pressure produced the opening goal after 8mins. A good 'Talbot free kick was met by a forward who brought an excellent save out of Grant Henderson (who used to play for them) the rebound fell kindly for 'Talbot but again Henderson saved, only for the ball to end up back with 'Talbot to score. Trinity were soon matching Fender Talbot and an excellent through ball from Garrick Simpson found Jay Harper who was unlucky with a good effort. A series of Trinity corners put the 'Talbot under pressure. One was met by Chris Glass who was a whisker away from his first Trinity goal. Another corner was then met by Harper whose effort was cleared off the line. With 10 mins of the first half remaining 'Talbot struck a killer blow when a fine cross was powerfully headed home at the far post. Trinity recovered but were restricted to long range efforts, either side of half time. On the hour, an unfortunate slip by Chris Short allowed Fender Talbot in for No.3. As the game entered the last 10min Henderson was again called into action and again after a good save, 'Talbot reacted the quicker to make it 4-0. Trinitys spirit could not be questioned in this game however and they finally gained a consolation goal they deserved in the last minute. David Barnes popping up at the far post to score.

3 Goals in 4 second half minutes send TFC to Defeat

Trinity put on a much better show than the previous week, but were still unable to prevent Beacon from continuing their 100% League start to the season. The opening half hour was an even affair with the Trinity defence being able to cope with all Beacons efforts. It was a shame that the opening goal came as a result of some shocking defensive play bordering on a comic sketch! A poor back pass put Trinity 'keeper Grant Henderson under pressure and he scuffed his clearance, it did however go to a Trinity defender who made an equal hash of the clearance, only managing to present the ball to Beacon ...0-1 That being the only "highlight" of the first half both teams were still hopeful of a win once the second half started. The first chance came on 57mins when a Beacon near post corner was flicked onto the post. This seemed to liven up the game as a strong run by veteran Kev Townell set a chance for Trinitys Danny Barnes but his header was a shade to high. Totally out of character for this game, a surge by Beacon produced 3 goals in a 4 min spell which of course won the game for them. On 64 mins a 25yard shot was deflected home, 0-2. A minute later and a half clearance was thumped home into the top corner from a distance again. 2 mins later and a Beacon midfielder was given a clear run through the Trinity defence 0-4, game over ! Trinity did mount a few promising attacks in the last 10mins, even throwing on veteran record scorer Steve Blanchard in an attempt to get some consolation. This was not to be as a 25yard Graham Dixon free kick sailed just over, leaving Trinity scoreless again.

Trinity prove to be an easy ''Challenge'' in the Cup

Trinitys interest in the 2009-10 Challenge Cup was effectively over after 8minutes when a poor backpass let in Barnetby for the opening goal. Trinitys day continued to go down hill when skipper Graham Dixon was forced off with an injury after only 10 mins. With 18mins on the clock Barnetby attacked in force to leave the Trinity defence just watching as they doubled their lead. Trinitys first effort of the game came on the half hour when Jason Harper forced the Barnetby keeper into making a good save. This mini Trinity revival was short lived as Barnetby hit three more goals in the ten minute period prior to half time. No 3 was again the result of a poor back pass. No 4 was the best goal of the game as the Barnetby forward weaved his way through the Trinity defence before producing an excellent chip over Grant Henderson in the Trinity goal. No 5 came on the stroke of half time. A reorganisation of the Trinity line up at half time did see an improvement with the Barnetby 'keeper having to "put his Sunday paper down" and take a bigger part in the game! Trinitys efforts all came to nil though. With 25mins left another injury saw Trinity veteran Keith Dixon being forced into action. Trinitys better second half showing came unstuck twice in the last ten minutes first with a penalty and the 7th goal being a cracking shot. Barnetby meet Goxhill Tigers in the second round while Trinity will be in the Bob Bedford memorial cup, hoping to do much better.

Trinity made to Battle for 3 points...

Trinity's first Home game of the season saw the visit of DSV, and after last weekends disappointing defeat, Trinity were chomping at the bit to get there first points on the table.

The game started brightly and Trinity got out the blocks sharpest and piled the pressure on the DSV rear guard. A sparkling run down the right side of midfield by Rich Brown ended when a DSV defender fouled him, allowing Trinity to fill the box. The freekick was floated over by Sam Clayton which found the head of Jay Harper. His powerful header had the keeper beaten but went just the wrong side of the post. It wasnt long though before Trinity were handed a gift by DSV. A mazey run into the box by Rob Needham resulted in him been brought down and a penalty been awarded. Up stepped Captain Graham Dixon who fired Trinity into the lead with his second goal in as many games. Trinity really had the grit between there teeth now and were piling on the pressure. A second goal looked a certainty and when Harpers pin point cross found the head of Sam Clayton, he rifled it past the DSV keeper. Trinity 2-0 DSV. Clayton was then to turn provider, as his run and cross from the left found the head of Needham, who under pressure from 2 DSV defenders, found the bottom corner. Trinity 3-0 DSV. The third Trinity goal seemed to spur on DSV though and with 10 minutes of the half remaining started to cause problems in the Trinity defense. The Trinity rear guard kept them to long range efforts which went both high and wide.

The second half started in the same way the first had ended with DSV piling on the pressure. With the second half only 5 minutes old DSV found a Glimmer of hope. A Free kick was only half cleared and the shot that followed managed to find its way past Henderson in goal to make it 3-1. Trinity were really struggling to get there passing football going again and a loose ball in midfield was picked up by the DSV captain. His thunderous shot from a full 30 yards bent away from the keeper and into the top corner of the net. Game on, Trinity 3-2 DSV. As DSV pushed for an equaliser, Trinity tried in vain to extend there lead but saw way ward shots from Robbo, Clayton and Harper come to nothing. After more pressure by DSV and a few close calls,Trinity's defense managed to stay firm and see out the game to claim there first points of the season.
