Trinity keep the Promotion Train on the right Tracks

After weeks without a game Trinity played their first League game since 30th November. A near 3 month break - Two cup games had beat the weather during the period but still a good mid winter break! The day before the game Trinity suffered a major blow when top scorer Mark McCrea was transferred to Burton. Trinity moved quickly to plug the gap left by transferring Mick Fowles from Duffs Dynamos to the club.

Fowles started a superb debut for Trinity by opening the scoring after only 9mins when he reacted quickest to a loose free kick which was fired into the DSV box by Phil Brumby. The enforced rest seemed to have Trinity a power of good as they doubled their score after 20mins when Fowles this time crossed the ball perfectly for David Barnes to meet and head home. Trinity backed by a strong wind were playing well now and Chris Glass came desperatley close to scoring his first Trinity goal when a cross cum shot rattled the DSV cross bar, the ball then dropped to Jason Harper who missed the open goal.
HT - DSV 0, Trinity 2.

Kicking into the wind at the start of the second period, Trinity were soon back on the attack. A good through ball from Chris Harper set Barnes up but a good save prevented a further goal. DSV hit straight back and following a far post corner reduced the deficit even though Mike Jackson nearly kept the ball out. It was DSV who were now doing all the attacking. The wind and possibly Trinitys tiring legs playing a part. A series of DSV free kicks around the edge of the Trinity box were all dealt with by a solid defence and some great saves from Graham Dixon, still acting well as stand in keeper. As DSV pushed for an equaliser, Trinity began to hit them on the breakaway with Barnes going round a stranded 'keeper only for Jason Harper to cap a day in new boots with the miss of the game. Trinity held firm to claim all 3 points in this div 3 promotion clash which keeps them well in the hunt for promotion.

FT - DSV 1, Trinity 2.
