Trinity Hearts Broken with last Kick of the Game...

This top of the table, division 3 clash at West Common Lane saw some bizzar decisions by the Referee have a major bearing on the result. Coupled with a strong diagonal wind which both teams struggled with on another day the result may have been much different. Baysgarth opened the scoring with only 7mins gone when a hopeful long ball caught the wind and deceived Trinity goalkeeper Graham Dixon, allowing Pat Sprakes to nip in and score. The game then got bogged down in midfield until Phil Brumby fed Danny Barnes who turned well and forced a good save from the Baysgarth keeper who was thankful to see his save clip the top of the bar. A series of long throw ins from Baysgarth caused problems for Trinity and with 10min left it was one of these that resulted in Baysgarths 2nd goal. A near post flick looping into the net.

With the wind at their backs it was Trinity who started the second half strongly with both Jason Harper and Barnes going close before Mike Fowles thumped home Trinitys first after only 6mins. Trinity continued to press strongly creating several good chances, leaving Baysgarth hanging on at times. As time began to run out Brumby limped off to be replaced by veteran manager Keith Harper. It was now that the Referee totally "lost the plot". Trinity were awarded a penalty for a foul, which even the Referee agreed had started outside the area. Keith Harper was not going to argue as he confidently stroked home the spot kick to deservedly draw Trinity level. Baysgarth were now also loosing the plot as they questioned every decision. With minutes left Baysgarth thought they had scored the winner but it was disallowed. The table toppers gained an undeserved win with the last kick of the game which flew in from close range following a corner.

Barnetby hit Trinity for 5

Trinity suffered a rare League defeat in this division 3 clash at WCL. They started the game brightly forcing the Barnetby 'keeper into making a fine save after 12mins. Garrick Simpson releasing the lively Phil Brumby who ran through the Barnetby defence before setting up Jason Harper who forced the save. Barnetbys reply came soon after as Chris Short was outpaced leaving Trinity 'keeper Graham Dixon having to produce an equally fine save. With half an hour gone Trinity were awarded a free kick which saw Liam Simpson nod the ball down to Brumby who once again found the Barnetby keeper in fine form. Brumby finally beat the Barnetby 'keeper when he picked up a loose ball in the penalty area to turn well and crack the ball home on 37mins. The second half started badly for Trinity when after 5 mins a mix up saw the ball creep over the line for Barnetbys equaliser. 10mins later and Barnetby were in front when a long ball beat the trinity defence leaving Dixon with no chance. Trinity mounted a spell of pressure with Harper and Brumby both going close but on 25mins Barnetby broke away to seal the win. Two more quick goals in the last 12mins left Trinity a well beaten team. the two teams meet again on Sunday week, giving Trinity a quick chance of a revenge victory.
