Match Report : Trinity 4 - 2 Queensway

So the football season is back, after 2 pre season friendlies against Winteringham Reserves (5-3 Victory) and an App Frod 11 (3-4 Defeat) Trinity were looking to get off to a good start against Queensway. The Sun was shinning and the New Home kit (worn for the first time) made the boys look sharp and confident. So when Queensway took an early lead, even though it was a good 5 yards offside, it looked like it would be another long season. But credit to the Trinity players, there heads never dropped and looked dangerous every time they went on the attack. Trinity got back on level terms when a long throw from Graham Dixon found the feet of Phil Brumby, who avoided 2 challeneges and smashed in a 20 yard screamer from a tight angle. This gave the lads a huge boost and saw out the half at 1-1

The second half was all Trinity. The midfeiders were laying the chances on for Brumby and Jason Harper but they just couldnt find the finish touch. then up stepped Danny Barnes, he latched onto a great through ball and finished at the 2nd attempt (2-1 Trinity), which took him to his Milestone 50th Goal for Trinity. Another Barnes charge down the right resulted in him been fouled and a freekick awarded. Sam Clayton stepped up to deliver a pin point cross into the Penatly area, where Graham Dixon met the ball with a Bullet Header which nestled in the bottom corner (3-1 Trinity) But before Trinity could draw breath Queensway had snatched a goal back (3-2) Queensway were piling on the pressure and Trinity made 2 subs and changed formation to 4-5-1. As Queensway kept going forward it left huge gaps in the back line and Trinity went close with efforts from Jack Haughey, Phil Brumby and Chris Harper. The game was put to bed though when a great ball over the Queensway defence by Graham Dixon found Phil Brumby who flicked it over the keeper and smashed in his second from point blank range (4-2 Trinity)

So a great start to the season for the boys, and they will be hoping to cause an upset next weekend at West Common Lane against Janneys Allstars.
