Trinity held onto 2nd spot in division 3, whilst Queens remained in a relegation spot following this scrappy game at the co-op. The game, played on an uneven pitch which caused both teams problems did not spring into life until midway through the first half. Queens taking the lead when a mix up involving Trinitys Garick Simpson, Chris Glass and 'keeper Graham Dixon presented Queens with a simple opener. This set back was short lived as Trinity equalised only 2 minutes later when a Phil Brumby corner was met with a diving header from top scorer Mark McCrea. Just as half time approached Brumby tried his luck with a cracking 25yard shot which hit a post and rebounded safely away. 10 minutes into the second half and Chris Harper produced a similar effort which flew just wide. Trinity were well on top at this stage and on the hour mark were awarded a central free kick some 25yards out. Mark McCrea took the kick which hit the cross bar and rebounded away off the goalkeepers head ! Trinity finally got what was to be the winning goal on 70mins when good midfield work by Jason Harper set McCrea up for his second. Queens one effort of the 2nd half saw a cross shot bounce on top of the Trinity bar. Queens cause wasn't helped late in the game when their centre forward received a second yellow card for dissent and was sent off.
Also to note, Trinity Defender Chris Short again came off worse in a tackle for the 3rd match running. The Trinity medical team were called on this week when Chris threw himself infront of the ball and on rushing attacker and got clattered down his knee once more. Great tackle, shame he looked like a little piggy rolling around in the mud.
