With an air of Confidense in the Trinity camp, the new season had arrived on a clear day up at West Common Lane. Trinitys opponents today were Queens, who had done the double over TFC last season.
As the whistle blew for the start of the game Trinity were put under early pressure by the Queens attackers. Two chances were wasted as both failed to hit the target. Trinity began to find there feet and started to move the ball around freely. A great passing move which involved most of the midfield saw Trinity take the Lead. Sam Clayton found Rob Needhams feet, who turned and laid a great ball into the path of Summer signing Mathew Robinson. He took it past the centre half with his right and smashed the ball back across the keeper into the bottom corner with his left. A great finish to a great move. Trinitys lead didnt last for long though as a long throw was only half cleared, which lead to a cracking 20 yard effort sent towards the top corner. New Keeper Grand Henderson pushed the ball onto the post, only for it to bounce under the cross bar and to the feet of a Queens Forward (1-1) Now with new found belief Queens came back into the game and after a few wayward efforts found themselves infront. A mazey run forward from Queens' Left midfielder had the Trinity defence tied in knots and smashed a shot into the far corner.

The second half started with Trinity trying to get back into the game but were soon delt a crushing blow when a long punt up field beat the offside trap, leading to the Queens striker tucking his shot low under the Trinity keeper (1-3) Trinity heads looked to of dropped and again life was made even harder when influential midfielder Robbo went off with a Groin Strain. With 25 minutes of the game remaining Trinity got a foot hold back in the game. Trinity pressure lead to a Corner, which was floated into the box. Captain Graham Dixon lost his marker at the back post and powered his header into the net (3-2) With re-newed hope Trinity pressed looking for an Equaliser. Good work by Rich 'Bobby' Brown and Jay Harper came to nothing as Trinity saw chances go begging. With Trinity now committing more men forward, this lead to gaps appearing in the defence. Grant Henderson, making his debut in the goal, kept the score down as he made 3 or 4 important stops to keep Trinity in the game. With the final whistle edging ever closer, the game was put out of Trinitys reach when a free-kick from the edge of the area took 2 deflections, beating the keeper to his left side.
