This Bob Bedford Round 2 game at the Co-op saw Div 6 promotion hopefuls MFM Academicals take an early lead against fellow promotion hopefuls from Div 3 - Trinity. The game being only 2 mins old when a hopeful punt in the direction of the Trinity goal, completly deceived Graham Dixon and found the back of the net. As the words of Manager Keith Harper at half time ' He just hit it...and it went in ' Things could have got worse for Trinity when an MFM cross hit Trinity Defender Camplin and Dixon picked it up, this was deemed to be a back pass for some strange reason. The resulting indirect free kick, 6 yards out was charged down. Trinity finally began to look like the senior team producing several good moves, the best, on 20 mins saw a Jason Harper header clip the cross bar. Just after the half hour, Trinitys top scorer, Mark McCrea went on a typical run and made it 1-1. Before half time MFM were again pressing, but the Trinity defence held firm. It took Trinity only 5 mins of the second half to take the lead when the MFM centre half slipped allowing Jason Harper through to score. On the 60 min mark Trinity made it 3-1 when David Barnes ghosted through the MFM defence to head home a Phil Brumby cross for his first Trinity goal for several years. If Trinity thought the game was won, MFM had other ideas and were soon back in the game with their second goal. The game was now end to end stuff, with McCrea again going close before Dixon was called into making the double save of the game. A MFM corner was shot at goal with Dixon saving well and then having to be alert to push away the rebound. That was MFM's last real effort, with trinity pushing forward again. With 5 mins left Brumby hit the MFM bar with a header and two mins later Trinity sealed their path to round 3 when McCrea fed Harper who forced his way through to score his second and trinitys 4th.

Trinity Get Back to Winning Ways in League...
Trinity held onto 2nd spot in division 3, whilst Queens remained in a relegation spot following this scrappy game at the co-op. The game, played on an uneven pitch which caused both teams problems did not spring into life until midway through the first half. Queens taking the lead when a mix up involving Trinitys Garick Simpson, Chris Glass and 'keeper Graham Dixon presented Queens with a simple opener. This set back was short lived as Trinity equalised only 2 minutes later when a Phil Brumby corner was met with a diving header from top scorer Mark McCrea. Just as half time approached Brumby tried his luck with a cracking 25yard shot which hit a post and rebounded safely away. 10 minutes into the second half and Chris Harper produced a similar effort which flew just wide. Trinity were well on top at this stage and on the hour mark were awarded a central free kick some 25yards out. Mark McCrea took the kick which hit the cross bar and rebounded away off the goalkeepers head ! Trinity finally got what was to be the winning goal on 70mins when good midfield work by Jason Harper set McCrea up for his second. Queens one effort of the 2nd half saw a cross shot bounce on top of the Trinity bar. Queens cause wasn't helped late in the game when their centre forward received a second yellow card for dissent and was sent off.
Also to note, Trinity Defender Chris Short again came off worse in a tackle for the 3rd match running. The Trinity medical team were called on this week when Chris threw himself infront of the ball and on rushing attacker and got clattered down his knee once more. Great tackle, shame he looked like a little piggy rolling around in the mud.

Trinitys League Cup Hopes Demolished...
On a wintery Sunday morning this Ireson Cup game eventually beat the weather at the third attempt. Trinity probably wish that the snow had claimed the match for a third time as they were a shadow of the team that had played so well during the previous two months. The tone was set virtually from the kick off as DSV went straight through the Trinity defence forcing the now regular goalkeeper Graham Dixon into an excellent save. Worse was to follow as Trinitys Chris Short was penalised for hand ball two minutes later. Dixon claiming another penalty save as the ball hit a post and was safely cleared. Trinity replied with their first attack through Phil Brumby who set up David Barnes but his effort was wide of the goal. DSV finally took the lead on 12 minutes as Trinitys defence was again absent leaving Dixon with no chance of saving a low shot. DSV had strong claims for another penalty on 20 minutes which the Ref turned down, but only 2 minutes later it was 2-0 with a similar goal to their first. With 10mins of the first half remaining a cracking 25yard effort from Brumby hit the DSV post. Straight away Dixon was again called into action with another good save. As Trinity were hoping to reach half time without further damage DSV had other ideas and on the stroke of half time a crisp shot found the top corner to make it 3-0 at the break. Trinity improved in the second half but the game was out of reach on 70 mins when DSV scored their 4th and final goal. Trinity were denied a consolation when the DSV keeper again saved well from Brumby, while at the other end a couple of late controversial decisions by the Ref saw a DSV "Goal" disallowed as Short lay injured and another effort disallowed for offside. DSV now play Baysgarth Old Boys in round 2.

New Club Captain announced...
Trinity are pleased to announce that after the Departure of Keeper and Club Captain Glyn Sparks, Graham Dixon will take over the Armband and lead Trinity into what is looking like a very exciting promotion race in Division 3. Keith Harper handed the Armband to Dixon before this weekends defeat to League Leaders Baysgarth.
Dixon said he was proud to be given the chance to lead out the Team, and jokingly added that he was concerned it was given to him to calm him down on the pitch.

Trinity crumble at Baysgarth...
This Sunday morning saw a Top of the table clash in Division 3 where league leaders Baysgarth Old Boys entertained Trinity who sit in 2nd place. It was a quick start to the game and both teams looked fired up, it was Baysgarth who had the open shot of the game only for keeper Graham Dixon to make a near post save. This seemed to wake Trinity up and moments later could of been infront when the ball landed on the edge of the area to an on coming Rick Camplin but he flashed his effort wide. It was Camplin again who almost broke the dead-lock after great skill and a lay off by McCrea, found Camplin in bags of space in the box. With the goal at his mercy though he smashed it over the bar. Baysgarth then seemed to click into gear and forced a few corners, one from which the opening goal was scored. Trinity failed to clear there lines and when the ball landed back with the orginal corner taker he smashed a shot goalwards which took a deflection and past Dixon into the net. Trinity tried to push for the equaliser but were caught out on the break when a defence splitting pass found the Baysgarth forward who cooly slotted past Dixon.
HT Baysgarth 2 Trinity 0
The second half started brightly for Trinity and when Chris Short came out of 50-50 tackle with a gashed knee a freekick was awarded and Short left the pitch for treatment. It was from this Sam Clayton freekick that Trinity found a way back into the game. Clayton floated over the ball to which 1st half sub Phil Brumby met with his shoulder which forced a good save from the Baysgarth keeper, but it landed at the feet on Camplin who slotted in. Just when Trinity had found there way back into the game the Defence was caught out again by a through ball from midfield of Baysgarth and as in the first half the Striker smashed it past Dixon. This livened the game up and it was action packed at both ends with Baysgarth forcing a session of corners and down the other end Trinitys attackers were guilty of missing some gilt edge chances. These misses were to prove costly to Trinity as the Baysgarth Right Winger cut inside and got his shot away early and found the Bottom corner 1-4. This was an end to the scoring in the game but on a different morning in the last 10 minutes Trinity could have ended as winners in the game all but for some good saves and some bad misses from the Trinity attackers.

Breaking News...
Before Trinitys victory over Crowle Keys on Sunday, Trinity were delt a massive blow when influencial Goalkeeper Glyn Sparks announced that he wouldnt be playing anymore this season. In recent months Glyn has been running in marathons for Local Charities and made the hard decision to hang up his gloves. This shocked the Trinity squad and management as recent results have found Trinity rise to 2nd in the Divison 3 table.
Glyn said that the Decision to stop playing for Trinity this year was hard because of way the team has started this season and by how much he was enjoying playing for the team. He added that if he were to continue playing and got an injury, resulting in himself not been able to take place in the marathons, he would be letting alot of people down who have/will be sponsoring him.
So with Glyn gone Trinity will be relying on Stand-in Keeper Graham ( The Cat ) Dixon to fill the void.

Crowle Keys v Trinity Match Report...
Trinity moved up into 2nd spot in Div 3, with this hard fought win at a wind swept Windsor Park, Crowle. They won the toss and elected to use the strong wind in the first half. Trinity soon had the Crowle defence at sea with some fast flowing football, which eventually was rewarded in the 9th minute when the inform Mark McCrea cut in from the left to score his 7th goal of the season. As the conditions deteriorated Trinity could not find a way through the Crowle defence, infact the Crowle team began to put some pressure on the Trinity back line. Just before half time the wind caught out Glyn Sparks in goal and Trinity were thankful for a Phil Brumby goal line clearance.
Half Time ; Crowle Keys 0 Trinity 1
With the wind at their backs it was Crowles turn to push forward after the break. A few anxious moments in the Trinity defence soon ended with a Crowle equaliser after 55mins. As in the first half once a goal had been scored the team with the wind advantage failed to push on. Trinity were soon causing problems for Crowle again with McCrea and Jason Harper a constant threat. As the game entered the last quarter hour Trinity seemed certain to have scored but once again Jason Harper managed to miss the target with the goal at his mercy. At the other end, for once someone tried their luck with the wind, seeing a good effort hit the top of the bar. With 90mins up a 1-1 draw seemed to be a fair score, but McCrea had other ideas as he forced his way through the Crowle defence to win the game for a jubilant Trinity team. In a game played in an excellent sporting manor, somehow there was 3 yellow cards. Trinitys Graham Dixon and Mark McCrea were both booked after THEY HAD BEEN FOULED ! whilst the Crowle tackle on Dixon was also deemed to be worth a yellow card.

Trinity 3 - 1 DSV
This Sunday morning game at WCL again gave Trinity the chance of toping division 3, a feat not seen in many a year! They managed to record a win but other results again did not help in their quest for top spot. With 5 regulars missing, including 'Keeper Glyn Sparks and midfield dynamo Jack Haughey (away for a year), Trinity set about the game in an excellent attacking way, with the power of Mark McCrea and pace of Jason Harper a constant threat to the DSV defence. It was McCrea who powered his way through the left hand side of the DSV defence and with the goal in his sights hit an unstoppable cross shot to open the scoring on 23mins. Shortly after this it was Harper who left the centre of the DSV defence in his wake, rounding the 'keeper and slotting home number 2. As half time approached McCrea forced the best out of the DSV 'keeper with another excellent run and shot. HT 2-0. The second period was only 5mins old when it was Harpers turn to be unlucky as he cut in from the left to crack a shot against the far post. Trinity were awarded a free kick some 30yards from goal just after the hour mark and it was Phil Brumby, filling in at centre half who sent a rocket shot just wide. DSV began to show as an attacking force now putting Trinitys standin 'keeper Graham Dixon under pressure, but he was able to deal with all thrown at him. The woodwork saved Trinity after 70mins with DSV's hopes given a further blow as Trinity broke away to score their third with another shot across the keeper by Danny Barnes making it 3-0. Credit to DSV as they kept up their attacking play and with 15mins left got a consolation. A corner being only half cleared, was picked up by DSV who shot through the crowded area, Dixon doing well to make the initial save but DSV reacted quicker to hit home the rebound. Straight from the restart Trinity again through Harper and McCrea came close to scoring but the DSV 'keeper again saved well. That was the end of the action, as the fast pace of the game eventually took its toll and the game was played out to a 3-1 Trinity win.

After his Goal and Booking on Sunday at Duffs he now only has 2 games remaining with the Team this season. First up is Sundays fixture against Bondz at Co-op then the following week, which is his last game, Trinity travel to Hibaldstow to face Hibaldstow Wanderers.
So just to wrap things up, i on the behalf of the Officals and Players of Trinity FC would like to wish Jack all the very best in his travels and just to let him no that the number 7 shirt will be ready and waiting on his return to the Trinity team.

Trinity Demolish Duffs in Confident Display
On a pleasent Sunday morning Trinity were looking to get back to winning ways in the League after last weeks 1-0 reverse to Brigg Servicemen in the Challenge Cup.The game started brightly and Trinity should of found themselves infront in the opening minutes of the game. A flowing move resulted in Danny Barnes missing an 'Open' goal from 1 yard. This wasnt to dent Trinitys dominance of the game as they created numerous chances before eventually going infront when a good move found Phil Brumby un-marked in the box. His shot was deflected into his own net by the Duffs defender, But Brumby tried his up most to claim it. ( Trinity 1-0 ) Mintues later Trinity were celebrating again when Mark McCrea linked up well with Jack Haughey who surged through the Duffs defence, and cooly slotted past the keeper. ( Trinity 2-0 ) Trinity were in full flight now and in complete control. Jason Harper, Phil Brumby and Mark McCrea had the Duffs defence all at sea using there pace to get on to the end of some good balls from the Trinity defence and midfield. Graham Dixon then had an effort from a modest 30 yards which crashed against the angle of the Duffs goal. Trinity had there foot full on the trottle and were soon 3-0 up when a long ball into the corner found Mark McCrea who collected the ball and cut into the box, and from a tight angle finished with a great near post strike ( Trinity 3-0 ) It was McCrea again who got on the scoresheet to complete the scoring in the first half. A throw-in from Rick Camplin found McCrea who dropped his shoulder and rifled in his second of the afternoon from outside the area.
Half Time : Duffs 0 - 4 Trinity
The second half started abit slow for Trinity who were starting to get abit complacent and Duffs threatened to get back into the game. Trinity had to call upon Glyn Sparks in the Trinity goal to make some good saves to keep a cleansheet. As Duffs tried to pressure the Trinity rear guard Trinity were able to break away and have some good efforts of there own. First Jason Harper used his pace to get behind the Duffs defence and cause havoc with some delightful cross come shots. Phil Brumby starting to link up well with McCrea again and it was his through ball to McCrea which gave him the chance to complete his hat-trick. It looked like McCrea had gone to far with the ball but he managed to get his shot in which went in off the the far post ( Trinity 5-0 ) This goal was to see the end of the scoring but Trinity kept piling on the pressure and came close to adding to there tally on numerous occasions. Graham Dixon came close when he got a flick at the near post to a Phil Brumby corner which just flashed over the bar. Chris Glass then had the chance to score his first goal for the club when McCrea challenged the Duffs keeper who had come off his line, but with the goal at his mercy Glass saw his shot not just go over the bar but it also cleared the hedge and finished up in a field. Harper, McCrea and Brumby all came close again and then Graham Dixon got onto the end of a Danny Barnes centre but saw his shot well saved by the Duffs keeper.
Full Time : Duffs 0 - 5 Trinity
So a great away win for Trinity which see's them now on 6 points from 3 games in the league. This game was the last of Graham Dixon's mangerial stint as the Trinity manager Keith Harper returns from his 2 week Gardening Leave for next weekends game against Bondz at C0-op

Trinity 1 - 5 Janneys Allstars
After last weeks Victorous start to the season, Confidense was high coming into this weeks fixture. But it was the away who started brightly and soon had numerous attempts at the Trinity goal. Trinity went close when Phil Brumby charged through the Janneys Defence only to see his weak effort saved. Janneys went infront when a a cross from the right was turned into his own net by Graham Dixon 0-1. The lead was short lived though as Garrick Simpson floated a freekick into the janneys box which dropped at the feet of Mark McCrea who calmly slotted home 1-1. Trinity weathered the storm of Janneys attacks and created a few chances on the break but t no end product.
HALF TIME 1-1
After a good battling first half Trinity switched off and got sloppy which cost them dearly. A catalogue of errors were punished by Janneys as they scored 4 second half goals without reply.
Next week see's a break in league action with the First Round of the Challenge Cup at Co-op verses Brigg Servicemen 10.30am kick off.

Match Report : Trinity 4 - 2 Queensway
So the football season is back, after 2 pre season friendlies against Winteringham Reserves (5-3 Victory) and an App Frod 11 (3-4 Defeat) Trinity were looking to get off to a good start against Queensway. The Sun was shinning and the New Home kit (worn for the first time) made the boys look sharp and confident. So when Queensway took an early lead, even though it was a good 5 yards offside, it looked like it would be another long season. But credit to the Trinity players, there heads never dropped and looked dangerous every time they went on the attack. Trinity got back on level terms when a long throw from Graham Dixon found the feet of Phil Brumby, who avoided 2 challeneges and smashed in a 20 yard screamer from a tight angle. This gave the lads a huge boost and saw out the half at 1-1
The second half was all Trinity. The midfeiders were laying the chances on for Brumby and Jason Harper but they just couldnt find the finish touch. then up stepped Danny Barnes, he latched onto a great through ball and finished at the 2nd attempt (2-1 Trinity), which took him to his Milestone 50th Goal for Trinity. Another Barnes charge down the right resulted in him been fouled and a freekick awarded. Sam Clayton stepped up to deliver a pin point cross into the Penatly area, where Graham Dixon met the ball with a Bullet Header which nestled in the bottom corner (3-1 Trinity) But before Trinity could draw breath Queensway had snatched a goal back (3-2) Queensway were piling on the pressure and Trinity made 2 subs and changed formation to 4-5-1. As Queensway kept going forward it left huge gaps in the back line and Trinity went close with efforts from Jack Haughey, Phil Brumby and Chris Harper. The game was put to bed though when a great ball over the Queensway defence by Graham Dixon found Phil Brumby who flicked it over the keeper and smashed in his second from point blank range (4-2 Trinity)
So a great start to the season for the boys, and they will be hoping to cause an upset next weekend at West Common Lane against Janneys Allstars.

Shocking Press Release...
Recent rumour has it that Trinity FC's Central Defender Garrick Simpson subscripes to 'Men on Men Weekly' spreading concern in the Trinity dressingroom that he is a Bender.
A Postal Worker from Scunthorpe reveilled the discovery whilst posting Garrick mail.
The postal worker who remains 'Un-named' Said he was Shocked and Mortified that this has happened in such a close kept dressingroom. He continued " i had often wondered if he was GAY by the way he looked at me in my pants and how he used to flick my bum with his wet towel"
This Story will cause conflict with-in the Trinity Players as long time 'Homophobic Hater' Chris Short vowed never to play with a Gay again after a bad experiance in Blackpool a few years ago.

Match Report; Trinity 1 - 4 Janneys
The Final game of season saw Janneys go all season without dropping a point, 18 wins from 18 games is some acheivement. But they were made to work hard for there 18th straight league win by Trinity after a rip roaring game. Having learnt from the previous meeting, Janneys set about Trinity with some fast flowing football but could not find away through a strong Trinity defence. The woodwork did however save Trinity twice in the first 20 minutes, before they settled into their stride to cause Janneys some problems. Firstly the returning Jack Haughey had a great chance to put Trinity in the lead after a good first touch put him clear of the defence, but the resulting left foot effort was rather poor. Chris Harper was next to try his luck, his long range effort though was off target and came to nothing. As an entertaining half drew to a close Janneys surprised Trinity by taking a 39th minute lead. A poor clearance by Chris Glass let in the Janneys forwards but the goalbound shot was blocked, but the rebound fell invitingly for the Janneys forward who tucked in from 6 yards out - 0-1. A minute later it was nearly 2 but an excellent save by Glyn Sparks kept the ball out. Trinity then mounted strong pressure with Phil Brumby and Jason Harper both going close. In the final minute of the first half, a strong Jason Harper left wing run saw him cut through the Janneys defence and his low cross was perfect for Phil Brumby to slide in at the far post for a deserved equaliser. HT 1-1.
Trinity started the second half as the first had finished with both J.Harper and Brumby going close in the first two minutes. Another run down the wing and cross by J.Harper cause havoc in the defence and only for a great challenge from a Janneys defender, Brumby would of surely made it 2-1 to Trinity. On the hour and probably against the run of play Janneys retook the lead, a long far post cross deceived the Trinity defence and a Janneys forward thumped the ball home. Another good save from Sparks prevented a 3rd before Trinity came again. A series of long throws from Graham Dixon caused panic in the Janneys defence only for J.Harper to blaze over. As Trinity continued to push forward Janneys took advantage of this to score twice in the last 10mins. The first from a corner and the second following a good move out of defence. This game completed the League season for both clubs, with Janneys champions and looking forward to their rearranged cup final, while Trinity can reflect on a disappointing season and start to rebuild in the summer months.

TFC Summer Training has Returned...
So with the clocks rolling back the nights are getting longer giving the TFC players plenty of time for there usual training sessions taking place on Thursday nights on the field infront of Pittwood House car park. The first one took place tonight with only 3 TFC players and 3 other fine athletes, Showing because of the late arrangements. But never the less the skills were flowing like a fine wine out of the bottle. Phil Brumby was first to grace the skill school with some dazzling skills before the heat was turned up when Graham Dixon gracefully connected with an overhead kick 'Rivaldo' Style and looped it over Phil who was donning the gloves. Garrick tried his luck from distance and on more than 1 occasion beat the keeper. Laugh of the night thou was when Rick 'Fizzed' a cross in which was connected by Glen but by his genitals, Quality finish followed by a 5minute sit down...Classic!
Anyway for anyone who wants to turn up its every thursday night from 6pm at Pittwood House car park field...Hope to see you there

Player Profile; Phil Brumby
Name ; Phil Brumby
Aka ; Brummers
Age ; 22
Total Trinity Appearance's ; 71
Total Trinity Goals ; 23
2007/08 Season Review ; This season Phil has made 22 starts for Trinity, scoring 4 goals. His return in front of goal this season is down on last seasons impressive 15 goals. This because he has found himself playing at centre half after Keith Harper (Possible Retirement???) made his 600th appearance and has used himself as only a bit part player. This hasnt dented Phils confidense as he has made a solid parternship with Garrick Simpson in the middle of Defence.

Division 4 Relegation battle...
So after this weekend's results Trinity were assured Division 4 football next season. With both Duffs and Winteringham loosing there games in hand, and because they play each other in the last game of the season, Trinity were safe. The Queens v. Winteringham game will decide who is relegated. Queens must win to be safe.

DSV 4 - 0 Trinity FC
So its that time of year when 'British Summertime Begins' and the clocks are moved forward an hour. Unfortunately for Trinity the team hadnt kept up to date with the clocks and suffered another Defeat. Things looked bad from the Car Park of Ashby lodge, where the team were meant to be meeting, as only 4 players turned up. At kick off a full squad was assembled.
Trinity started badly in their game v DSV , conceding a goal after only 90 seconds. A long ball forward into the corner was badly misjudged by the defence and the resulting cross was put away after a few bobbles. This poor start was soon put aside as Trinity slowly pegged back DSV. A Sam Clayton corner was met by Mark McCrea who's header hit the DSV crossbar, and the resulting rebound was bundled wide by Chris Short. On the half hour McCrea forced his way into a good position but his shot was narrowly wide. Jason Harper was also just off target with another effort before DSV broke away and hit the crossbar with the rebound being put wide. A freekick just before half time floated over by Graham Dixon caused mayhem as Mark McCrea's flick headed towards the goal, and a scramble followed but to no avail.
The second half was a stop start affair as the Referee took centre stage and spoilt the game. First he wrongly gave a penalty against Graham Dixon, when his tackle was deemed a foul even though the ball was cleanly won.The penalty was scored and Trinity found themselves 2-0 down. This was followed by a booking for Phil Brumby for dissent. The penalty decision had wound Graham Dixon up and before long the Ref was having words with him again for a late tackle on a DSV player. He was later replaced by Chris Glass before his actions and words got himself sent off. Trinity mounted a period of pressure without scoring and it was DSV who broke away to make it 3-0 on the 80th min. As Trinity pushed forward DSV made it four with 5mins left. Two points now separate the bottom four teams with a crunch fixture to come with Queens last game being against Winteringham Res

Trinity FC v Janneys
Once again the weather got the better of procedings at Quibell Park. 3 to 4 inches of snow had fallen over night causing this game to be called off. Never the less the spirit in camp was still high as the players that turned up had a snow ball fight.
The game has been re-arranged for Sunday 13th April 2008. Time and Venue have yet to be arranged but as soon as they are it will appear on the Blog
